What is the UV flashlight for, and why does mine not work?

One of three hidden items, and the single most common false bug report on the forums.

Quick answer

The UV flashlight is one of three hidden items. A community reference states it reveals hidden markings, numbers and interactions. If it seems to have disappeared after you picked it up, press T again: the UV lamp toggles after the regular light, so it can be in your hands and switched off.

Steps

  1. Pick the lamp up with the left mouse button as you would any tool.
  2. Press T to cycle the lights. The UV lamp comes after the regular light, so one press may not be enough.
  3. Point it at surfaces you have already searched; what it reveals is markings, numbers and interactions rather than objects.
  4. Use it on the Anomaly Crafter to discover the interaction that turns a Pickaxe into the Access Card.

Requirements / limits

  • What the lamp reveals is documented by one community reference published 25 August 2026.
  • The toggle behaviour is documented by a discussion thread of 26 August in which a player believed the lamp had vanished, another player asked whether they had pressed T twice, and the original poster confirmed it had been there all along.
  • Update 1.0.5 already noted that the Torch Light and UV Lamp are collected correctly and work on collection, but still need T to activate. That is the developer describing the same two-step.

Common mistakes

  • Reporting a lost UV lamp before pressing T a second time. This is the most common false alarm on the subject.
  • Searching for the Access Card as a findable object. It is crafted, not found.

Still unverified

  • Where is the UV flashlight found? Not verifiedThe reference lists it among the three hidden items and says what it does. Neither it nor any developer source states a location.
